Looks absolutely amazing, I no longer have to scale down the game in order to play.
Beautiful graphics, great storyline, great voice-acting; and the Goblin Menace expansion is great too! Buy this game. :).
One of the releases Ive been waiting for so eagerly I checked the AppStore practically every day to see if it was finally here. The gameplay expands on the creative but never frustrating puzzle solving of the original by adding unique ways of interacting with the environment (water plants that grow and allow you to reach otherwise inaccessible places, arrange magic mirrors that serve as portals, etc.). As in the first Trine, the environments are pretty in a way that one might call kitsch if they were Thomas Kinkade paintings, but that Ill call gorgeous in a computer game. The scenery seems to stretch far into the horizon into beautiful sunsets, moonlit night skies and emerald jungles and is filled with sounds and all sorts of moving things that make you forget that Trine 2 is still basically a sideways scroller… few games offer so much eye candy and fun for such a good price. However, and this is an addendum, after having played it partially, I abandoned it, beautiful as it is. Why? I got stuck. Some areas are so tricky to traverse that only precise timing of your movements and jumps--and I mean 100% precise timing, not 99%--will allow you to pass. I came back numerous times and didnt make it through. Thats just a bit too much repetition for me, and it ultimately caused me not to come back to what is, visually and acoustically, a gem. If you dont mind succeeding (or not) only after trying dozens or maybe hundreds of times to jump from one bouncy leaf to the next (and the next) while fiery projectiles rain down on you, go for it. Otherwise, Trine 2 may ultimately frustrate you.
I am trying to play this game on a fully maxed out 15" Retina MacBook Pro connected to my Thunderbolt display, using the Tbolt displays native resolution 2560x1440 with all other setting set to their lowest values. The mouse & keyboard input lag is still very noticable and significant that it really hampers the gameplay. So, I dont think Ill be playing this game until the input lag is fixed or can be tweaked. Two other annoyances include: 1) the initial story screen has to be manually skipped when launching a saved game. 2) The settings launcher has to be manually bypassed on every game launch. Once the graphics settings have been tweaked, it should not need to be re-adjusted on every launch. 3) The voiceover & game audio is noticeably compressed. 4) There should be machine-specific presets on the graphics launcher screen, e.g. autodetect optimal graphics settings based on reading settings from Mac.
Mood is whimsical and lighthearted, but still has mysterious/dark elements and moments. Very beautiful settings, great use of depth in 2D; though you never *quite* forget its a sidescroller. (How can you? Its a fundamental fact of the gameplay.) Strong voice acting, too. Personally, Id like the plot to be a bit thicker from the get-go. Also, Id prefer an all-keyboard control system; better yet, an ability to actually set the controls to my own liking. Overall, excellent game.
This game is well thought out and well done. The graphics are stellar. The animations are smooth. This game is the bomb and well worth even 30 dollars. You are getting a steal at this price. I love this game - absolutely love it.
This is a beautiful game and it is fun, but the controls are very awkward on the touchpad, and it wasnt much fun. I would only buy it if you have a mouse.
The graphics is beautiful. However, because it is so laggggggggy, most of the key event, I have no idea what is happening!!!! Fix that!!!!
Very nice and interesting arcade/adventure game. Gorgeous and sweet scenery, interesting gameplay and puzzles.
Dont know about the rest of you, but in my opinion the game is great, maybe even better! Well, Its downloading, and if it doesnt work then this will be the 7th time this game is damaged and i paid a lot for it, other than that i have downloaded the free demo from Steam, and the game was perfect, I defenetly recomend this game, but there are some things that might bug you, When you get stuck it is really frustrarting but, its a puzzle game so expect that, but dont worry too much about that because there are hints…that really help you : D Something else that i realy like about this game is the storyLine of this game and the way it is told and plotted,it has a reason, like in some games, you ask yourself" why the heck did he just decide to do that ?!" that is important ! Other than that. There are many other things that the player will discover throughout the game, that will make you never want to stop playing, this game is a WINNER :) XD
The game looks good but I cannot get far without being able to right click on my macbook pro. I need to right click to levitate things with the wizard. Does anyone know how to right click?
The lag makes the controls very annoying, I would expect this to run better on a brand new retina macbook!
$4 for a game this awesome?! I dont usually play games on my Mac, but this one just looked so cool that I had to try it. Perfect mixture of puzzle and hack n slash to keep me entertained. The graphics are beautiful (I play it on highest quality on a 12 bottom of the line Macbook Pro) Recommended!
Its alright, more chanllenging than Trine 1, but nothing really special because its very similar to Trine 1 (except for some graphic enhancements).
i really wanted to like this game i really did. Im sorry to say but just like the other reviewers said there is a major input lag problem on a capable machine. If the devs could please fix this than a five star rating would be well deserved as, without the input lag its a great game.
I just love it, mind engaging, fun and amazing graphics thanks for this game..really good price too!!
Fails to operate as promoted. The game is an absolut failure!
At first, I thought this game would be corny, but I was wrong. This game is really fun to play and on top of that, the graphics and storyline are amazing. When I first played, I barely knew what was going on because I was dazed by the scenary. If you like puzzle games, then this is a must buy. The game is very creative and you will have a lot of fun playing it over and over.
This is easily the most gorgeous side-scrolling platformer I have ever played. The environments are beautifully rendered. Light effects and textures are perfect. If you want a game that lets you experience the potential of your 2880x1800 monitor resolution, this is it. And at this price, its a steal!
